    The World of Creative Cities

    As the UNESCO Creative City of Film from Japan, Yamagata is pleased to announce the official selection of our special program "View People View Cities - The World of UNESCO Creative Cities" screened at the Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival 2023, held from 5 to12 October 2023.

  • The Power of Film Against the Landscape – From Yamagata to Bradford

    Yamagata and Bradford are both UNESCO Creative Cities of Film and take pride in the city’s beautiful landscape as a filming location.
    Ms. Louisa Rose Mackleston, a filmmaker based in Bradford, visited Yamagata in May 2022, and Yamagata offered her to make a five-minute documentary film as a collaborative project of Bradford and Yamagata. The film compares Bradford and Yamagata's surrounding scenery and associates it with the city’s film commission activities.
