2：Qualification

• Engage in creative activities within Yamagata City.
• Participate in exchange activities with the citizens of Yamagata City.
• Be able to communicate in Japanese or English.
• Be in good health.
• Comply with Japanese laws and regulations, and public etiquette.
• No criminal record
• Not be a member of an organized crime group (as defined the Yamagata City Organized Crime Exclusion Ordinance)
• Activities in Yamagata City are not aimed at political, religious, or anti-social activities

　Note: A letter of recommendation may be requested.

3：Program Description

１）Support for Artists

　If staying in a group, we offer support for a maximum of two people.

① Support for Creative Activities

 We support artists’ creative activities and research in Yamagata City with providing information, etc.

 The details of the support will be determined through consultation.

Note:

– There is Yamagata Film Commission that supports shooting in Yamagata.

– As a location for creative activities, we will introduce the Yamagata Creative City Center Q1, which serves as the hub for the Creative City of Yamagata.

②Accommodation Support：Up to 500,000 yen per person.

– Accommodation costs in Yamagata City：Maximum of 20 days
– Transportation costs to Yamagata City

Note:
Accommodation in Yamagata City and transportation costs to Yamagata City up to 500,000 yen per person is supported.
Any amounts exceeding the limits or costs incurred outside the support period will be the responsibility of the artists.

2：Exchange Activities with Local Artists and Citizens

During the residency, artists must participate in at least one exchange activity with artists or citizens working in Yamagata.

3：Others

The management organization of this program, the Yamagata Creative City Promotion Council will create and make public records of activities conducted within this program.

The copyright for the works and concepts produced in this project will belong to the artists; however, the Council will have the right to use photographs, videos, and other materials recorded by the Council for promotional and activity documentation without any charge.

【Entry for the YAMAGATA Artists-In-Residence 2026】

1：Residency Period　May 11^th 2026 – January 31^st 2027

　　We will provide support for approximately 20 days during the residency period.

2：Application deadline January 31^st 2026 (JST)

3：How to apply

　　Please send us the application form by email or post.

4：Selection

• The selection is made by the Council based on the information described in the application form.
• The applicants will be contacted in March 2026 regarding the results.

5：Notes

Yamagata Artists-In-Residence 2026 is called for applications based on the budget proposal in 2026.
Please note that depending on the status of budget deliberations, the content of the program may be changed or even cancelled.
