I flew to the City Born for Film and Beer, Qingdao, China to join the Meeting of UNESCO on the 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions in Northeast Asia.
“Oriental Movie Metropolis” was opened this year. There are 15 studios to shoot new world-class movies. “1907 Movie Club” was originally named Sailors’ Club. Established in 1902 and designed in new Renaissance architectural style, it is the first auditorium in Qingdao. “1907 Movie Club” is connected to cafe, private theater, library and film museum.
The 2005 convention is based on gender equality, sustainable cultural diversity in expressions to promote policies of cultural cooperation, and promoting creative fields. The words like “diversity”, “sustainable development” and “creativities” are also keywords for “Creative City”.
Through this meeting, I feel Yamagata City has good assets of Film, and Yamagata citizen has passions for culture. We can act to use creativity to the future of Yamagata City!
