The 19th Creative Café “Encounter” will be held on Tuesday, 15 May 2019


What’s Creative Café?


Yamagata City of Film organizes a monthly event named Creative Café, where people in Yamagata can exchange opinions and get to know each other without concerning the differences in age, sex, and nationality.

There are two types of 2019 Creative Café:

  1. an event inviting a guest speaker from culture or film section to talk, discuss or do a workshop
  2. a screening to introduce works made in Yamagata City

  • Take “Benichan bus” to “Honcho” bus stop and 3 minutes walk to the venue
  • The Yamagata Manabikan Free Parking was closed due to road construction. Please use public transportations or public parking to reach the venue.

CONTENT

Starting from 2018, Yamagata Artists-in-Residence is a program to invite filmmakers to reside in Yamagata for extensive stays, providing space and time to focus on the development of their film projects.

The first Yamagata Artists-in-Residence was held from 24 October to 17 November 2018, inviting filmmakers from Indonesia and Malaysia to stay at Zao, a famous onsen (hot spring) resort in Yamagata, to concentrate on their film project.

In 2019, Yamagata will invite a Korean director, Mr. KIM Hwi Geun, to stay in Yamagata for 10 days (from 12 to 22 May 2019) to make a short film “Return”. It is a collaborative project with the Busan City of Film, the 3rd Busan Intercity Film Festival, and the Busan Independent Film Association. The completed film will be screened at the Busan Intercity Film Festival 2019.

At this Creative Café, we will screen his past short films and hold an exchange meeting, inviting Mr. KIM.

 

GUEST

Mr. KIM Hwi Geun(Director)

KIM Hwi Geun is a 25 years old director in Busan.

and has three feature films, two mid-films, and many music videos.

His third film, “The Boy who had horns”, won the Grand Prize at the 19th Busan Independent Film Festival in 2017.
